Sweet Dreams In This Cozy Woodland Nursery

I had so much fun designing and decorating Henry and George’s cozy woodland nursery! Oddly enough, I’m much more into the decorations for boys than girls. So I was excited to work my creative side and put together a space that not only suited my babies’ needs perfectly but was also a place where my husband and I would actually want to spend time. After years of trying to get pregnant and the amazing, yet overwhelming, possibilities that Pinterest offers, I had some ideas but decided on my cozy woodland nursery theme after figuring out my goals for the space: comfort, coziness and fun but not too ‘babyish’. I wanted it to be a room that could grow with the boys as they got older so I wouldn’t have to redecorate often to update it. I am so happy with the way it turned out!! Our friend’s nine-year-old even said, “Awe, it’s so calming and nice in here.” I was all smiles! Here’s a list of my favorite things that bring together the look of the nursery and a couple sentences on why I love them so. {Stay tuned for a subsequent post on my favorite items that make our everyday life […]

The Breakfast Nook

We just moved into our house in mid-August and have been loving it! From the view, to the land to the fireplace during cold rainy PNW days and the overall comfy feel, it’s been a perfect fit and something we can really invest ourselves in. That said, the first time we walked through the house I absolutely fell in love with the quaint breakfast nook, something that had always been under my ‘Ultimate Home Design’ boards on Pinterest…you know what I’m talkin’ about! The Nook offers great seating to admire the view overlooking the Columbia River and into Oregon. But, it needed some updating. Thank goodness, it was easy peasy. The pillows were a bit outdated and the lighting wasn’t my cup of tea. Here’s a picture of the ‘before’ look. So began my lengthy trips to JoAnn’s picking up fabric, then putting it down, picking up more fabric then putting that back…too bright, too floral, too young, too old, too stripey etc. A few weeks later I decided to try another looky lou and found that it was the Labor Day Weekend sale aka 50% off the specialty home decor fabrics…woot woot! I kind of felt like a dork […]

Wine Cork Christmas Trees

A couple months ago we moved into a beautiful new place that I feel completely at home in. It has definitely encouraged me to settle in and once again get down with my crafty self! Having already put up most of my harvest-like decorations, lately I’ve been on the lookout for DIY Christmas decor ideas. Festive crafting is the best on a fall Pacific Northwest day so, in an effort to get a head start I carved out some time last weekend to get started! The first project I chose: Wine Cork Christmas Trees! I saw a picture on Pinterest and tried my hand at it without any directions so here’s what I did to make them: Supplies: Main Tree Wine Corks (19 for the larger on and 13 for the smaller) Scrapbook Paper Scissors Elmer’s Glue Glue Gun and Glue Sticks Optional Stump: Saw and Small Branch (Only if you want to use a real log for the trunk)   Instructions 1. Collect wine corks (this is the fun part because you get to drink the wine:) 2. Buy supplies, getting whatever type of scrapbook paper you would like. I stuck with the greens and reds but didn’t go […]
